				| Project Scope:
The Ewa District was a rapidly
growing region on the Island of Oahu which was under intense
pressure for increased residential development by public
agencies and private development organizations.  One of several
significant developments proposed for the region was the Ewa
Gentry project, a project of The Gentry Companies.  The proposed
project involved the incremental construction of some 7,000
single and multi-family housing units, and the generation of a
new resident population of 27,000 persons on a 925-acre project
				site. An environmental impact statement
(EIS) and a more detailed socio-economic analyses was prepared
for the project.  The EIS primarily examined four regional and
site development options, water resource, public transportation,
public service impacts, potential consequences upon social
behavior, community attitudes, direct and indirect employment
and income, and the potential floor space demand for supporting
commercial services.Various analyses concerning the loss
of sugar cane lands to residential development and wildlife and
botanical resources of the project area were coordinated and
incorporated into the project report. |
